The mountain was named Bihaksan because its shape looked like a crane embraced its eggs and flew to the sky. The top of the mountain has a peak, and the eastern mid-slope of the mountain has a peak which looks like a small mountain and is called Deungjanhyeol. They say that creating graves ensures the prosperity of the descendants of the dead.
Myths say that if after creating a grave at Deungjanhyeol the descendants of the dead live in the vicinity of the grave, it brings misfortune to them and that creating a grave on Bikansan Mountain causes a drought. Thus, when a severe drought occurred in summer, the local government and residents held a shamanic service to pray for rain or the residents dug the graves. Frequent lawsuits were brought.
Many climbers are fascinated with the thick trees, beautiful scenery, and clean water found from Beopgwangsa Temple to the top of Bikansan Mountain and continue to visit the mountain.
